Toronto Public Health to provide second round of H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine

Starting Jan. 5, Toronto Public Health will hold immunization clinics to give a second dose of H1N1 vaccine to those children who need two shots for full protection. All children from six months to less than three years of age, and those with chronic health conditions who are from three to nine years of age, require a second dose of H1N1 vaccine at least 21 days after receiving their first shot.

These clinics will also provide another opportunity for the general public to get both seasonal and H1N1 vaccines. Children under nine years of age who have never had a seasonal flu shot require two doses of seasonal flu vaccine.

Influenza normally circulates until the spring, and immunization for both types of flu is the way to protect people.

The clinics will be held at the following times and locations:

Monday, January 25 4 - 8 p.m. Etobicoke Civic Centre

Tuesday, January 26 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Metro Hall

Wednesday, January 27 4 - 8 p.m. Scarborough Civic Centre

Saturday, January 30 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. North York Civic Centre
