Antony Robart has worked as a reporter and anchor for Global Toronto since February 2004. At Global, he’s covered major stories from the front lines – both local and international.
Antony covered the earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, just a day after it struck the impoverished country. He was at the frontlines for the release of Karla Homolka near Montreal. He covered the hurricane aftermath in Grenada, the bombings in London, England, and a five-part series on Terry Fox's heroic journey through Ontario. He reported on the Jim Loney hostage crisis from his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie.
Antony was born in Halifax and raised in Regina; he graduated from McGill University in Montreal, then American University in Washington, DC. It was there in the U.S. Capital where Antony got his first crack at TV journalism working at ABC News.
From working for Sam Donaldson to Toronto, Antony made the jump to CBC News where he trudged up the ladder first as an Editorial Assistant, to researcher, to writer, to eventually reporter/videojournalist.
Not being able to stay in one place for too long, he dropped it all for Paris working for CNBC Europe and Radio France International.
However, after nearly two years and missing his home and native land too much to stay, he decided to emigrate back to Toronto (a euphemism to say his 'visa expired').
Antony frequently speaks to students across Ontario as a guest lecturer and is involved in a number of charity organizations. He likes unwinding on the ski hill and long-distance running. And when he can't do sports he watches them on TV.
